Review of Simac II Gelataio GC5000 ice cream machine rated: #1 of 9
Features
Self freezing model. 1.2 litre stainless steel removable bowl; spatula
Comments
Instructions could be more detailed but provide a good choice of recipes. Paddle turns more swiftly than the other machines which produced a light, whipped ice cream result. Easily coped with chocolate chips and quick to thicken. Choice of three functions: freeze only, paddle only and freeze and paddle. Doesn't automatically switch off when thick.

Review of Gaggia Gelateria ice cream machine rated: #2 of 9
Features
Self freezing model. 1.2 litre fixed plus 1.2 litre removable stainless steel bowl; spatula; timer; two paddle sizes
Comments
Instructions could be clearer but include a good selection of recipes (these are in strange measurements). Automatically stops when ice cream gets thick. Very creamy and smooth ice cream. Messy to remove bowl as no handle. Timer settings are not obvious.

Review of Cuisinart Ice Cream Professional rated: #3 of 9
Features
Self freezing model. 1.5 litre stainless steel removable bowl; double paddle; ingredient feeder; timer
Comments
Clear and well laid out instructions with a good selection of recipes. Double paddle churns ingredients effectively. A single timer control operates the machine. Produces a good volume or creamy, light vanilla but is slightly slower to thicken than other machines. Coped well with chocolate chips. Noisy.

Review of Magimix Gelato Chef 2200 ice cream machine rated: #4 of 9
Features
Self freezing model. 1.6 litre fixed plus 1.6 litre stainless steel removable bowl; ingredient feeder; spatula; two paddle sizes. Price varies depending on finish.
Comments
Connection between motor and main unit is a two pin plug hole on the top of the machine - this could easily get dirty or wet. Light and airy ice cream but paddle struggles as it thickens and does not stop automatically. Very noisy. Small feed hole makes it hard to pour in ingredients. Large on/off control.

Review of Philips HR2304 Ice cream machine rated: #5 of 9
Features
1.0 litre non stick, removable bowl; ingredient feeder. Bowl freezing time: 18 hours
Comments
Cooling disc rather than entire bowl - slimmer design makes it easy to store in the freezer. Instructions could be more clearly laid out. Paddle struggled slightly with chocolate chips. Quiet operation. Ingredient feeder is small but not angled so is easier to use.
