Women reveal what they really think about their own and celebrities’ bodies, in new survey from www.allaboutyou.com

National treasure Helen Mirren has topped a poll of women growing old beautifully with Judi Dench and Honor Blackman close behind in second and third place. The results are revealed in a new body image survey by lifestyle website www.allaboutyou.com[1], which questioned over 700 women aged between 35 and 65.

Celebrities voted as looking great for their age, and those that don't...

In the survey, celebrities are blamed for 1 in 4 of the female respondents (28%) feeling pressurised to have cosmetic procedures, as the celebrities have had, to make them look younger. Having said that, an overwhelming number of women (86%) think they are aging better than their mothers' generation of women. In addition, 8 out of 10 (79%) actually feel they look younger than their age and over a quarter (27%) will be wearing a bikini on the beach this summer.

In terms of what parts of their body they love best, 1 in 3 women (36%) feel their most attractive feature is their eyes, followed by their breasts and then their legs. Women are most likely to be dissatisfied with their tummies, with just 1.7% of those interviewed claiming their tummy as their favourite body part:

Surprisingly, when they're feeling depressed about their bodies and want to feel good about themselves, as well as look good, women are more likely to go for a hair cut or go shopping than spend time with their friends. Near the bottom of the list is spending time with their partners - with just 1 in 5 (20%) women doing this to make them feel better about themselves.

Fortunately, many of www.allaboutyou.com's readers have grown happier in their skin as they age. They take far better care of their bodies than the generation before them and are learning to love their bodies - faults and all!"
