Somewhere to stay: Redcot House, Ramsgate
A Victorian B&B on the Kent coast
What's the buzz?
A welcome addition to Ramsgates holiday offering, this Victorian redbrick B&B on Ramsgates genteel East Cliff, opened in June 2011 after restoration by proprietors Mike Noble and Mike Stace.
Any luxurious touches?
The whole Redcot experience feels luxurious, from the beautifully proportioned entrance hall to the welcoming guest lounge. Bathrooms have a touch of the spa about them, with superior fittings, soft lighting and fluffy white towels.
Best sea view?
The surprisingly secluded second-floor Luxury Bedroom has a view of the prom and the Channel beyond.
What are the rooms like?
High-quality furnishings in neutral colours and natural fabrics create a calm, spacious yet cosy feel. Roomy mirrored wardrobes are stocked with extra throws and pillows. Simple, considered touches add to the homely ambience and include small stacks of classic novels, Kilner jars of homemade shortbread, and well-chosen prints.
Any bathroom products?
Shower and hair products from the Scottish Fine Soap Company.
How about the food?
Chef Mike Stace is training as a pastry chef and prides himself on the breakfast menu. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon comes with freshly baked sourdough bread and the Full English has local pork and sage sausage.
From the visitors book
The rooms are first class but the attention to detail really makes Redcot House stand out.
What will it cost me?
Double B&B from £105. (01843 595659, www.redcot-ramsgate.co.uk).
