New Baby

Hi - my bestest friend is having her first baby in September and I'd like to make something for 'it'. I am a cross stitcher, but do you think a sampler is too 'boring'? Plus - I started a sampler for her wedding but when I found out another of the guests had done one, although it was totally different, I lost heart and haven't completed it - I don't what that to happen again Any ideas for something unusual would be greatly received!

That is a hard one as the cross stitch sampler sounds perfect but know what you mean about duplications. Have you thought of decorating a keepsake box, making the sampler smaller and inserting on the top, that way the baby has a box to put precious things in through life.

I once knitted a padded door hanging in fluffy wool & cross stitched "BEBE" on it in silver thread. Maybe something around that general idea?

You can create creative stitches like alphabets and numbers it would become more helpful too.
