Dog and owner photo competition: Burghley Horse Trials

Country Living online 10.09.2008

Despite monsoon conditions, Country Living's Annual Dog & Owner lookalike competition at Burghley Horse Trials was a resounding success.

Winner of the dog and owner competition from the Burghley Horse Trials 2008 Dragging their owners through several inches of mud, the entrants showed a quality and spirit worthy of Crufts. With prizes sponsored by James Wellbeloved and Toggi Clothing, the judges, including Susy Smith, Pam Adams from Toggi and Dara Grogan from Waitrose, all had a hard task on their hands to decide the winners, but eventually first place went to Sam, with his faithful owner Janet Brown.

Winner of the cute puppy competition from the Burghley Horse Trials 2008The part of the event that elicited the most ‘Ahhs' and ‘ooohs' from both judges and spectators, The Cutest Puppy competition, was no less difficult to decide, particularly as the judges wanted to take them all home, but the first place rosette went to Fizz and Beverly Duncalf.

Fizz clearly very pleased with the rosette, as the picture shows.  Second place was taken by Uno and Elizabeth Lang, and third by Jack and owner Dan Wigley.   All the entrants went home with a rosette and armfuls of Dog-treats, and no-doubt dreaming of a drier victory next year.
