My country memories
Television presenter Loyd Grossman has travelled the countryside to satisfy his passion for fishing and the finest local produce
‘I have travelled around Britain a great deal, partly because of my television work, but also because of my passion for history and architecture. I have fished all over the British Isles, from the chalk streams in the south up to Orkney, and there is something different and exciting everywhere. I've been fishing so long I care a little bit less about how much I catch, and more about how nice the setting is; whether watching damselflies hovering above the River Test in Hampshire or eels swimming beneath its surface.
‘The amount of concentration fishing requires lets you experience the countryside in quite a different way. You are so focused and so observant, so aware of every ripple of the stream, every breeze and rustle of the leaves, that you get this very intense and detailed view, which is extremely relaxing.'
Loyd Grossman is Chairman of National Museums Liverpool, a heritage campaigner and broadcaster. His range of Quorn dishes is available in leading supermarkets.
