I don't mind queueing but...

... it's nice to have a night off! How to take it very easy at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre

I'm a big fan of Regent's Park's Open Air Theatre. It's always a magical evening, sitting among idyllic treetops as the sun sets and marvelling that you're in central London. Last week I tried the Covered Dining experience and I have to say, it really added to the already magical experience of open-air theatre in London. .

For £27.50 - if you book on the day - you can have a fantastically relaxed starter and main course before the show, from a menu themed on the show itself. I went to see 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and to get me in the Southern Alabama mood I had cornbread and a yummy free-range chicken main course. It was all very lovely, sitting at your own table, eating, people-watching and sipping wine before the show started, but for me the best part about the Covered Dining experience is the interval... You head to back to your table to find that whatever was left of your bottle of wine is there waiting for you, along with your dessert and a hot drink (you order these when you order your main course). I don't mind queueing but it's nice not to once in a while - and it felt so civilised and somehow grown up not to! The interval was only 15 minutes as the children acting in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' have to get to bed, so what could have been a slightly rushed 15 minutes trying to find a drink and go to the toilet was, for me, a very relaxed affair, finishing my wine, nibbling my 'To Kill a Mockingbird' Pecan and bourbon pie, and indulging in yet more people-watching.

I would definitely treat myself to Covered Dining at the Open Air Theatre again - it's fun. You can

check the the Covered Dining menus here. I was amused to see that for The Sound of Music they're offering 'Tea with bread and jam' as one of the desserts!
