nature table in Country Living office The campaign is sponsored by Jordans, which promotes wildlife through its Conservation Grade farming system. "We want our cereals to be grown in a way that works in harmony with nature, so we pay our farmers a premium and in return they put ten per cent of their land into conservation projects that are proven to increase wildlife on their farms. They sow wildflower mixes alongside their fields, put up bird boxes and plant areas with seed crops specifically to provide food for birds," explains Bill Jordan, founder of Jordans, and owner of Pensthorpe Nature Reserve in Norfolk. "I grew up next to our family flour mill in the Bedfordshire countryside, and spent my childhood playing in the fields and woods. I feel strongly that all children need to be given the chance to engage with nature, otherwise it will mean nothing to them as adults."

We're also working with the Field Studies Council (FSC), an environmental education charity which has 17 field centres across the UK. "With a loss of so many green spaces, our field centres are a way of getting young people outdoors and opening their eyes to what's around them," says Dr Steve Tilling of the FSC. "We also produce identification guides to encourage families and schools to go on nature walks." So head for the park or woods this weekend, and join our campaign to Bring Back the Nature Table.
