Somewhere to stay: Boscastle House, Boscastle
A family-run B&B in Cornwall. By Julie Pond
What's the buzz?
Set on the North Cornwall coast against a backdrop of cliffs and mature trees, the revamped Boscastle House is run by a family team with an environmentally friendly focus. The B&B uses renewable energy and all food is locally sourced where possible. It even offers a £5 per night discount if you travel by public transport to Cornwall.
Any luxurious touches?
The interior is stylish and contemporary with quality furnishings. Guests are encouraged to hang out at the house, so you can relax in the living area, have a beauty treatment in your room or play a game of croquet in the substantial garden.
Best sea view?
There are extensive views from most of the house, but the room called Trelawny has the best by far.
What are the rooms like?
Each of the six rooms has been individually designed - take your pick from pared-down and minimal to opulent. Our room, Nine Maidens, was decked out in cool greens and had a huge en suite with a luxury bath and a roomy shower.
Any products in the bathroom?
Yes, there were pampering goodies by Kinu.
How about the food?
For breakfast we tried the Full Cornish': hogs pudding, muffin, honey-glazed bacon, eggs, tomato and spring onion. Barbecues can be arranged for £10 per person. Cream teas and cakes are also available.
What will it cost me?
Double B&B, £120.
