10 reasons to love knitting
It’s the ultimate recession skill
Of course it's easy (all right, all too easy) to go wild and spend a small fortune on exotic, organic hand-dyed yarns, but there are always yarn bargains to be found, and even if you buy pure cashmere, knitting is a relatively thrifty way to get a high-quality wardrobe for less than what it would cost ready-made in the shops. Plus, with all the time you need to spend staying in to knit your newborn's bootie collection or your husband's Guernsey jumper, you can't go out and spend money, and you'll get a satisfied feeling of self-sufficiency to boot.
