Make a cute tea cosy
This fun tea cosy makes a quirky gift
Following template, cut two roofs from red felt, two 35cm x 17cm rectangles from gingham, two complete tea cosy pieces from gingham for lining and two from polyester wadding.
Cut a 12cm x 6cm rectangle from black felt for door and one 10cm x 3cm for chimney, two 6cm squares from white felt for windows and two 16cm x 4cm strips from green felt for grass.
Stitch door and windows to front of tea cosy and stitch in window bars. Add a felt letterbox and door knob. Cut edge of green felt in spikes for grass. Stitch either side of door 2cm above lower edge. Fold chimney in half and stitch.
Tack to top of roof. Stitch roof pieces to gingham pieces. Tack wadding to wrong side of these pieces. Stitch together around outer curved edge, taking 1cm seams.
Stitch lining pieces together around outer curved edge leaving gap for turning through. Stitch pieces together around lower edge. Turn right side out and sew up gap in lining.
