Make a birthday scrapbook
The perfect gift for someone special, or for yourself - and an ideal way to store mementos and record memories
You will need:
A4 spiral-bound hardback sketchbook
Multicoloured shaped sequins
PVA glue
Ribbons and braids
Organza fabric, from a selection, John Lewis
Oriental papers, from Oriental supermarkets or Paperchase
To make:
Gather photos, postcards, childhood drawings, letters, travel tickets and any other mementos. Stick a montage of Oriental papers, brightly coloured sweet wrappers, small pieces of organza fabric and some of the pictures to the book's front cover with PVA glue. Trim with ribbons and braids, and decorate with multicoloured sequins. When dry, begin working on each page inside, layering different images and materials, until the scrapbook is full.
Tips
Use colour photocopies of any precious photographs or fragile mementos in orderto preserve the originals.
Leave each spread to dry for at least two hours before working on the next.
Save sweet wrappers, fabric and ribbon scraps and decorative wrapping paper to use in your scrapbook.
