MADE 09 craft fair, Brighton - ticket offer
Shop for cutting-edge design and hand-made gifts at MADE09 craft fair in Brighton, Nov 20-22, supported by Coast
Stoneware vases, from £10 each, Katie MacShould the thought of trawling the high street and internet for Christmas presents feel too disheartening, pay a visit to MADE09, Brighton's Design and Craft Fair, supported by Coast. Here you can choose from a wide array of original pieces, many of them inspired by the seaside and produced by some of the best designer-makers in Britain.
We especially like the look of Elsy & Vine's caravan-motif cushions and tea cosies, and Fiona Howard's coastal-themed homewares, which she dreams up in her studio in Hove.
But there's plenty more to choose from, including hand-crafted jewellery, knitwear, glassware and ceramics. Work is affordably priced between £20 and £1,500.
More than 5,000 buyers visited the fair last year, which is held in Brighton's Corn Exchange, and it's a great opportunity to meet the craftspeople and discover more about their work. There is a café on site, too, providing light meals and refreshments.
Join us at the Private View on Thursday 19 November for a first look at what's on sale before the event is open to the public. You can also meet Coast editor Clare Gogerty, who is officially opening the fair.
