Flower-arranging: scented seasonal centrepiece

Build your own seasonal centrepiece and fill the room with festive scents

 

Christmas flowers: scented centrepieceDesigned exclusively by John Lewis florist Jane Scott

 

You will need:

● Large clear glass cube and smaller glass cube (to fit inside large one)

● 5 pine stems

● 3 stems eucalyptus

● 3 stems holly berries

● 3 glittered cordyline tops

● 5 mini pears

● Garden canes

● 4 cinnamon stick bundles

 

To line the cube:

● Handful of holly berries

● 2 handfuls of cinnamon sticks

● 4 handfuls of eucalyptus leaves

● 4 handfuls of pine snippets

● 2 handfuls of star anise

● Handful of cloves

Separate all components for lining cube. Place a layer of pine snippets in base of larger vase, then place smaller cube on top.

Carefully pour in berries, cinnamon and remaining cube-lining items until layers have been built up on all four sides.

Half fill smaller cube with water. Strip pine stems and eucalyptus stems below water line and arrange in smaller vase.

 

Step 4

Add holly stems and glittered cordyline. Attach pears using garden canes and, finally, rest berries and bundles of cinnamon sticks on top.

 

Tip: Because no fresh flowers have been used, this arrangement will last about two weeks
