Knitted cakes: waffle

Materials
● 4-ply yarn in pale yellow and red
● pair of 23/4mm/no12 needles
● foam: 8x7cm rectangle, 2cm thick
Abbreviations
alt: alternate; C6B: cable 6 back. slip next sts to cable needle and hold at back, K3, K3 from cable needle; C6F: cable 6 front, as C6B but hold cable needle in front; dec: decrease; foll: following; g-st: garter stitch (every row knit); inc: increase; K: knit; P: purl; patt: pattern; rem: remaining; rep: repeat; RS: right side; st(s): stitch(es); st-st: stocking stitch; WS: wrong side
Front and back
(Both alike.) Using two strands of yellow, cast on 24 sts.
Next row: (RS) P.
Next row: (WS) K. Work in patt as folls:
1st row: P2, *K2, P1; rep from * to last st, P1.
2nd row: K2, *P2, K1; rep from * to last st, K1.
3rd row: as 1st row.
4th row: K. These 4 rows form the patt and are repeated 5 more times.
Next row: P. Cast off.
Jam
Using two strands of red, cast on 70 sts. Work 4 rows in st-st, then cast off.
To make up
Join short ends of jam together (purl side is RS) and fit around foam. Sew on the front and back to jam, around all edges.
