decoupage watering can to make

We turned a small galvanised indoor watering can into a decorative item to keep on display in the kitchen.

Galvanised watering can, £7.99, Homebase (0845 077 8888)

First, paint it with a coat of primer suitable for metal, then two coats of your choice of colour. Cut out small flowers or butterflies from wallpaper or wrapping paper. Glue in place and finish with about 12 coats of clear gloss varnish, for a durable finish.

To cut out images, use small sharp scissors and a scalpel for intricate areas. You will find it easier to cut out any internal sections first and then the outer edge.
