Make your own Christmas gift bags
Create pretty gift bags to make presents look special
You will need:
● craft knife
● old greetings cards and photos
● ruler
● white paper bags
● photo corners (optional
● Pritt Stick or glue
● heart and star stickers
● selection of ribbons
Before you start
You can use anything you like to decorate your bags, but start by choosing a main image and picking out one or two colours from it, so you can add individual motifs in your chosen colours. Help kids make bags for their friends and relatives.
To make
Cut out your image or images with a craft knife. Using a ruler, arrange them on the bag first, moving them around until you are happy with the overall picture. Stick down photo corners and place image inside. Or glue image directly onto bag. Cut out hearts or stars from card or felt and glue into position, or use stickers. Tie a ribbon bow and attach to the top of main image, or tie round bag handles.
On a personal note
Use your imagination and personalise your bags with photos of whoever you are giving the gift to, or decorate your bag with some of their favourite things. Add postcards and old stamps if the person is a traveller, or pick out an image relating to their hobby. Use a photocopier to repeat or enlarge images colour copiers can now print straight from your digital camera or memory stick. Check out www.canon.co.uk for printers you can use on the go.
