Make a gathered lampshade
This easy-to-make lampshade is ideal for the bedroom
How to make it
● To make a gathered floral shade to fit over a 25cm white lampshade, cut a rectangle of fabric 100cm x 20cm.
● Pin and stitch short edges together, taking 1cm seam allowances. Neaten edges together and press to one side. See diagram below.
● Press under 5mm then 1cm around top edge and stitch, leaving a gap for elastic.
● Thread a 22cm length of 5mm wide elastic through casing. Overlap ends and stitch securely. Sew up gap in stitching.
● Press under 5mm, then 2cm around lower edge and stitch.
● Place over lampshade.
