An elegant embellishment for a plain cushion, published in Prima in May 2009
How to make
Cut a piece of silk dupion 7cm larger all round than the cushion front. Turn under and stitch a hem across top and bottom of fabric.
Cut a 10cm x 13cm rectangle of silk. Fold in half lengthwise with right sides facing and stitch sides together. Turn right side out and wrap around centre of silk, scrunching up to give a knot effect.
Overlap and stitch ends securely at back. Fold under hemmed edges of silk and pin to right side of cushion front 1.5cm above bottom edge and 1.5cm below top edge.
Tack in place and trim away excess fabric, which will fan out at the sides. Neaten seam allowances. Turn right side out and press. Insert cushion pad.
