Create a distressed photo frame

Painted photo frame

Lightly sand a plain wooden photo frame. Paint with emulsion paint – we used Farrow & Ball Strong White. Apply two or three coats – leave to dry fully between each coat. When completely dry, use fine sandpaper to gently rub the edges and the detail on the frame, to reveal some of the underlying wood. Continue until you have achieved the desired effect. Complete the look with a black-and-white photograph or a black-and-white photocopy of a favourite colour photograph.
