Knit pretty cupcakes

Decorate your table with these easy-to-knit calorie-free cupcakes!

Give afternoon tea a fun twist with these pretty knitted cakes. They're easy to knit, and decorating with beads and sequins adds a delicate finishing touch. The pattern is courtesy of www.ukhandknitting.com.

Cake base

Use DK yarn and 4mm needles.

Cast on 30 sts.

K 12 rows.

Row 13: K2 tog across row 15 sts.

Row 14: K.

Row 15: K2 tog across row, K last 8 sts.

Row 16: K2 tog across row [4 sts].

Row 17: K2 tog across row [2 sts].

Row 18: K2 tog.

Cast off.

Sew side seams to form a cup shape.

Icing

Cast on 12 sts.

Work 12 rows in stocking st (1 row K, 1 row P).

Cast off.

Making up

Put stuffing into cake base then sew icing over the top of the cake base. Decorate with beads and sequins (optional).
