Pale blue bedroom with pretty fabric headboard
Update the look of your bed in just a few hours with our easy ideas, by Maxine Brady
Upholster a board
Buy a piece of MDF that is approximately 90cm tall and cut to fit the width of your bed. Jigsaw small holes in the lower two corners for the screws to hold the board in place. Using a staple gun, fix a piece of foam to the front of the board, leaving the holes clear, then cover with fabric, fixing in place at the back. Fold the fabric at the corners for a professional finish, then hang the board to the wall using screws.
Expert tip: Hold the upholstery fabric in place using a staple gun or upholstery tacks.

Pink and cream bedroom with hanging headboard
Cut a length of fabric the same width as your bed, then hem all sides. Sew a tube along one edge, and thread a curtain pole through it. Fix the pole about 60cm above the bed, and let the fabric drop behind. If you are not good at sewing, a readymade curtain will also work well.
