Sew pretty padded hangers
They protect your clothes - and look good - and padded hangers make fantastic gifts, especially when they're handmade
Use oddments of fabric to make pretty padded hangers.
Cut a long strip of polyester wadding and wrap it around a hanger, stitching in place at both ends.
Cut a rectangle of fabric big enough to cover the hanger plus 1.5cm seam allowances all round. Press 1.5cm onto the wrong side on all edges of the fabric.
Fold around the hanger and stitch in place by hand, gathering up both ends to give a rounded shape.
Tie a 40cm length of narrow ribbon in a bow around the hook to finish.
