mouse pincushion to sew

Oddments of cotton fabric are used to make this cute little mouse.

Enlarge the templates by 300 per cent and cut out two sides, one face and one base from cotton fabric. Cut two ears from felt. Fold sides of ears in to meet each other and tack ears to face between marks. Stitch sides together at long unnotched edge. Stitch short edge to face.

Tack an 18cm-long piece of cord to back of base for tail. Stitch body to base, leaving a gap for turning through. Turn right side out. Fill with polyester toy filling. Sew up gap in stitching. Sew on a couple of beads for eyes. Knot end of tail. Using black button thread, stitch through nose, leaving four long ends each side. Knot close to nose. Trim ends.
