Ribbon-trimmed cushion
Cut 2.9m of narrow ribbon into 32 9cm lengths. Mark 16 evenly spaced points on cushion front and stitch centre of ribbon pieces in pairs to these points. Tie in knots and trim ends of ribbon. Make up cushion.

Gathered silk cushion
Cut cushion front about 25cm longer than needed. Insert two rows of gathers at each side and through centre of this piece. Draw up gathers to fit cushion, allowing for seam allowances, and arrange evenly. Stitch a piece of tape over gathers on wrong side to hold in place. Make up cover as before.
