Sew a shell-trimmed tablecloth

Shell tablecloth to sew

You will need:

● Cotton or linen fabric or a ready-made tablecloth, to fit table size, plus 80cm for overhang
● approx 6m of 1cm-wide oatmeal tape or ribbon
● drilled shells
● pearl beads or buttons

Press 1cm hem onto the wrong side on all edges of the fabric, then press under and topstitch a further 1.5cm hem folding in the excess fabric to create mitred corners. Pin and topstitch the ribbon onto the right side of the cloth 15cm in from the edge, folding the corners into mitres. Sew shells and beads at 10cm intervals along the ribbon.
