Create extra seating by making a beanbag for adults or children
You will need:
● 1.6m/1.2m 140cm-wide furnishing fabric
● 1.6m/1.2m fire-retardant lining
● matching thread
● 65cm/55cm zip
● approximately 5cu ft/3cu ft polybeads
To make:
Stitch seams with right sides of fabric together and take 1.5cm seam allowances.
Following relevant cutting diagram (see below), cut out fabric and lining - omit strap for lining.
Fold fabric strap in half and stitch down long side. Turn right side out and press. Lay strap across top and tack at edges. Press under 2cm across straight edges of base. Insert zip. Pin and stitch side edges of sides together. Press seam allowances open.
Pin and stitch six evenly spaced darts, about 20cm long, around top of side so that top edge fits top circle. Pin and stitch to top circle. Pin and stitch bottom edge of side to base. Turn right side out.
Make lining in same way, omitting strap and zip. Fill lining about two-thirds full with polybeads - do not overfill or you may not be able to put it in the outer cover - and sew up gap in base. Insert inside outer cover.
