Take an old sweater and use it to re-cover a footstool
You can use one or two jumpers to do this, depending on your footstool's size. A chunky polo-neck jumper works best as it will cover the whole stool and be easier to sew in place without the stitching showing.
Remove the legs of the footstool, if you can, and insert the stool into the jumper. Using pins, fit the jumper around the stool, tuck the arms underneath and cut off any excess, and do the same with the neck and the bottom edge. Then, using a large darning needle and wool, sew all the open edges together before reattaching the legs.
