Sew a patchwork scarf
Make a great gift for a friend, or for yourself, using oddments of fabric
This scarf is made from four sections of fine fabric cut on the bias, so it drapes well, with seams on the straight grain. Cut out four pieces following the measurements on diagram or vary size and shape to fit the oddments of fabric you happen to have.
To make French seams, pin pieces together with wrong sides of fabric together first and stitch, taking 1cm seam allowances. Trim seam allowances to 3mm and press to one side. Fold with right sides of fabric together and seam rolled to edge of fold. Pin and stitch, taking 6mm seam allowances. Press to one side. Turn under and stitch a narrow hem around outer edge.
