Be aware of your breasts, is the advice from breast cancer charities

black woman feeling her breastBreakthrough Breast Cancer advises women to show their breasts some TLC by Touching and Looking for the following changes, and Checking them with your doctor:

 

Here are the eight changes associated with breast cancer that you should watch out for:

Size or shape eg one breast might become larger or lower than the other

Skin texture eg puckering or dimpling

Appearance or direction of nipple, eg one nipple might become inverted

Discharge eg one or both nipples might discharge a bloodstained liquid

Rash or crusting of the nipple

Lump in the breast or armpit

Lumpy area or thickening of tissue that doesn't go away after your period

Pain in breast/armpit unrelated to PMS

 

If you notice any of the above changes in your breasts, go to see your GP.
