Food swaps to cut cals

Chicken drumsticks cooking on a barbecue

Which way with chicken?

SWAP A chicken drumstick, 170 cals, 8g fat
FOR A chicken and red pepper kebab, 100 cals, 3g fat
WHY? Drumsticks are definitely worth avoiding because of the high proportion of fatty skin to lean meat. Having a skinless chicken and red pepper kebab instead saves you 70 cals and 5g of fat. In addition to this, you’ll get some vitamin C and betacarotene. Barbecued kebabs are less likely to be a cancer risk than barbecued drumsticks, and they’re lower in fat and often marinated, which offers protection against harmful charring.
