On test: vibrators

Good Housekeeping online 15.01.2009

Which were the top three on test, for clitoral stimulation, vaginal stimulation and all-round satisfaction? Find out here

Chandra vibratorBest for clitoral stimulation
Chandra, £24.47, Emotional Bliss (0870 041 0022, www.emotionalbliss.com). ‘Acts like a vibrating finger to stimulate your clitoris or vaginal lips.'

The verdict
Designed with the help of a Relate therapist, Chandra is discreet and neutrally coloured - ‘Surprisingly tasteful,' said one of our testers. Its comprehensive instruction booklet was a bonus for more inexperienced users. With only one speed setting, some of our testers suggested it could do with being slightly more powerful, but for beginners - and those with time to spare - this is a good choice.

 Future Tech vibratorBest all-rounder
Future Tech Rabbit Vibrator, £39.99, www.Passion8.com (01482 873377).
‘The shaft and the clitoral stimulator work independently, so you can choose between them or have both at once.'

The verdict
The girls of 'Sex And The City' loved this and so did our testers - in fact, they all voted it their top sex aid. The rabbit ears' seven speed settings hit the spot with our sex aid aficionados and our sex aid virgins. With speed settings on the rotating shaft, too, you can experiment until the sun comes up. However, all testers agreed they'd prefer a toy in more neutral colours - as one of them put it, ‘Less like a lethal weapon.'

Seven Wonders vibratorBest for vaginal stimulation
Ultra 7 Seven Wonders Vibrator, £24.99, www.Passion8.com (01482 873377). ‘Delivers seven fabulous vibrating and escalating functions in a jelly-feel, quiet vibrator!'

The verdict

Sleek and straightforward. Our testers loved the variety of different vibrating settings - ‘great fun to experiment with'. They were also impressed with how quiet it was, even on higher settings. Most of our testers said they would have preferred it in a more natural colour - lurid purple didn't quite do it for some of them!
