The Skinny Bitch Diet
Written by Rory Freedman, a former agent for Ford Models, and Kim Barnouin, a former model who holds a degree in Holistic Nutrition, the Skinny Bitch phenomenon hit fever pitch after Victoria Beckham was seen browsing a copy in hip LA boutique Kitson.
Who's a fan: Kylie Minogue is said to be a fan of their recipes, as are long-term vegetarians Natalie Portman and Pamela Anderson.
What's hot about it: Described as a "no-nonsense, tough love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous", the diet focuses on eating the things you like in a healthy form. Animal products are a no-no but there's no calorie-counting - and you can still eat dessert.
What you can eat: The latest edition from their stable of Skinny Bitch titles, 'In The Kitch' is a fab collection of recipes to help even the clumsiest of cooks to whip up a tasty, healthy meal - and lose weight with wholesome ingredients like:
* Organic fruit and veg
* Wholegrains
* Nuts
* Lentils and legumes
* Vegan meat substitutes like fake salami, veggie dogs, unchicken and
unsteak.
Can I indulge? As Rory and Kim put it, "life without lasagne isn't a life worth living, chocolate cake is vital to our survival and no one can live without mac n' cheese - no one." The eating plan's recipes include Bitchin' Breakfasts, PMS (Pissy Mood Snacks), Sassy Soups and Stews, Down Home Cookin' and Happy Endings (Desserts).
Try a sample menu
Breakfast: Fresh-pressed apple juice and slow-cooked oatmeal with dates, raisins, walnuts and bananas OR a smoothie made from soy milk, flaxseed and three different pieces of fruit.
Lunch: Grilled soy cheese with tomato and a small side salad OR wholewheat Mediterranean pasta salad with sun-dried tomatoes and olives.
Dinner: Shepherd's pie with vegan mashed potatoes, fake ground meat, lentils, corn and sautéed spinach and mushrooms OR a tasty burrito with beans, brown rice, guacamole and vegetables.
