How to tackle a confidence crisis
Crisis: self-doubt
‘I can't help comparing myself with other people, and I feel inferior when I do'
‘Putting other people on a pedestal automatically puts you beneath them, which isn't any good for your self-esteem,' says Emma. ‘There are always going to be people you can compare yourself with whether you think they're richer, thinner or happier but the only person you can change is yourself. Instead, focus on all your achievements. At the end of each day, write down something you've done well, or that has made you feel happy. Did you give to charity, finish that DIY job, or cook a delicious dinner? Then at the end of a week or a month, list all your skills and accomplishments. As opposed to focusing on the negatives, allow yourself to feel proud of everything you've achieved. If you look at your list whenever you're feeling low, it will become very difficult to put yourself down.'
