Quiz: Are you ready for a relationship?

All About You online 04.03.2009

Take the quiz to discover how you relate to other people

couple and woman at barDo your clients start to irritate you, your suppliers let you down, or your romantic relationships wither after just a few months?  If you find it hard to keep old friends or make new ones, maintain your colleagues' loyalty or stay with the same employer, the chances are that it's because of the way you look at the world.

To discover how, and what to do about it, start with these questions. Don’t spend too long on each one, simply decide whether, on balance, you generally agree or disagree.

1. Most people seem to like me.

2. I am comfortable about getting close to others.

3. I worry about being alone.

What it means

What these results suggest (there are only 10 questions so this is more of a suggestion than a conclusive diagnosis), is how you look at your self and how you look at others. Am I OK? Are you OK?

If the 'me' score is positive (and certainly if it is greater than +2) then you feel pretty good in your own skin. You value yourself and you are likely to agree with the statement 'I'm OK', maybe even 'I'm an all round good person'.

If the score is negative (and certainly if it is less than -2) then it's the opposite. You probably do not value yourself very highly. You might even agree with the statement 'I'm not OK' or, 'I'm not good enough' or maybe even 'there's a lot that's not quite right with me'.

The same rules apply for the 'you' score, which is about how you see other people. Do you tend to assume that they are OK until they prove otherwise? Or is it more often the other way around: they need to prove themselves before you are willing to be impressed? The positive score (especially > +2) suggests you are in the 'you're OK' camp. And a negative score (especially <-2) suggests you're in the 'you're not OK'.
