Anti-ageing beauty buys for spring

Woman applying face cream

Complexion  perfection

Get the look: Great skin needs regular moisturising - just make sure you choose a cream with an SPF15 to protect against daily UV damage. Use a primer too - invaluable in helping your foundation adhere longer to your skin as well as minimising fine lines and open pores. Jemma Kidd Make Up School Dewy Glow in Rose Gold, £16, will keep skin looking radiant and youthful. Smooth it over your whole face before applying foundation, then use the Ice Gold shade to highlight cheekbones.

On cheeks we love Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in suits-everyone Blushed Rose, £15.66. And if an oily T-zone is your problem, dust on a touch of Laura Mercier Mineral Finishing Powder, £30. The aim is for your skin to look glowy - but not shiny - so you still want the high points of your face, such as cheek and browbones, to catch the light, as this dewiness implies youth.

Lastly, to get the perfect nude lips, pat your foundation over your lips to take away any redness. Finish with a clear gloss such as Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF15 in Airkiss, £11.74.

Gorgeous lips

Get the look: Start by ensuring that the rest of your face looks natural and flawless. First, set skin with Jemma Kidd Make Up School The Rescue Veil Primer, £32. Then apply foundation over the top to neutralise redness and camouflage any blemishes; Chanel Vitalumière Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup SPF15, £29, gives a great dewy finish.

For fabulous lips, pat on translucent powder, then feather a line of MAC Cremestick Liner in Plum Soft, £8.81 around your mouth to give shape; blend it onto lips so there is no visible outline and finish with a sheer lipstick, such as Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in Fig, £14.20.

For subtle eyes, mix the warm shades of Dior-5 Colour Eyeshadow in Parisian Nights, £34, over lids, use the white shade under brows for definition, then sweep on Clinique High Definition Lashes in Black, £12.23

Gleaming nails

Get the look: For salon-perfect nails at home, Glenis Baptiste, manicurist to the stars, recommends soaking hands in soapy water to soften skin and cuticles. Next, gently ease the cuticles back and rub in a few drops of Glenis Baptiste Almond Cuticle Oil, £5.99, to soothe any dryness. After that, use a three-way buffer to get a high shine and prepare your nails to hold colour better.

Apply a base coat, such as Maybelline Age Treatment Base, £3.99, to target any brittleness or flakiness, then paint on two coats of Revlon Nail Enamel in Plum Seduction, £6.29. Finish with Elegant Touch Diamond Protect & Shine Top Coat, £4.95. For matching lips try Nars Lip Lacquer in Hot Wine, £16.

Sparkling eyes

Get the look: For a soft yet dramatic look, blend Prescriptives Perfect Every Line Gel Eyeliner in Cocoa, £12.72, along your lashline, then sweep Nars Single Eyeshadow in Granada, £15, along lids, up to slightly above the socket line.

Next, use a paler brown, such as the shade in Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Mystic Eyes, £33, on top, then take the darker brown from the Chanel quad to the outer corners of your eyes and underneath the lower lashes, a third of the way along. Blend to soften. Finally, give lashes impact with Estée Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara, £21.40.
