Can teeth whitening damage teeth?

I have always been a bit wary of teeth whitening, can it ruin the enamel on my teeth?

Whitening is not harmful to your teeth, but make sure a dentist checks they are healthy", says Dr. Tif Qureshi of the British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry.  "It will not ruin the enamel, and although it won't strengthen or weaken the teeth it will certainly make you look years younger."

To get the best effects, look out for whitening kits that contain Carbamide Peroxide or Hydrogen Peroxide. If you get one from your dentist then you will have the gum tray custom fitted.

Maintain results with a whitening toothpaste like Beverly Hills Formula Natural White, £3.99, which helps prevent stains and fights tooth decay and bad breath.
