Fashion and beauty Q&A: bikini wax
How can you get the most from your bikini wax? Our experts advise.
What sort of maintenance routine should I follow after a bikini wax?
Waxing specialist Nadiya Bekar (www.michaeljohn.co.uk; 020 7629 6969) says to prevent in-growing hairs and keep the skin smooth, use a body scrub every two or three days. She recommends Dermalogica Exfoliating Body Scrub, £21.20, 0800 591 818, which contains healing lavender and tea tree oils. Avoid using rich moisturiser in the bikini area, as it will just block the pores.
Although she doesn't recommend shaving or tweezing in-between waxes as it interferes with the growth pattern and can make your next wax less satisfactory, as a holiday quick-fix it's fine. Revlon's new Diamond Grip tweezers are great.
She also suggests trimming the hair in the bikini area with Philips Bikini Trimmer, £30; www.philips.co.uk; 0845 601 0354. It has a range of settings so you can choose the length you desire, and the protective guard means there's no danger of accidentally cutting yourself.
