Fashion and beauty Q&A: grey hair dye
Want to get rid of your grey hair? Read what our expert has to say

I have a lot of grey hairs - what's the best way to cover them?
If you are more than 50% grey, demi-permanent colorants can still work for you, but you might feel you're fighting a losing battle once you have a significant amount of grey in your hair. For a complete cover-up, you'll need a permanent shade. It's a high maintenance choice though as you'll need to redo your colour regularly to keep it looking fresh and to avoid obvious roots. You can minimise the look of regrowth by choosing a colour not dissimilar to your natural one. Make sure you do a patch test as per the instructions in the box too. Allergies can occur the first or 30th time you use a hair dye.
Try Clairol's Perfect 10, £6.99 and L'Oreal's Excell 10, £7.99, which are less alkaline (and unpleasant smelling!) than traditional formulations and help to protect the hair's natural protective coating, the f-layer and fight free radicals formed during the colouring process. The technology also means that colour develops in 10 minutes with 100% grey coverage and high shine.
