Fashion and beauty Q&A: jeans
Get the perfect pair of jeans for your figure with our expert advice
I'm always envious when I see other people looking great in jeans but I never seem to buy a pair that look good on me. Any advice on shopping for jeans?
Jeans are an absolute wardrobe staple and finding the perfect pair depends heavily on your body shape. Broadly speaking, tall and lean figures suit slim cut, pear shapes favour bootcut and curvy girls can make the most of their figure in a high waisted pair.
I'd highly recommend investing in a slightly more expensive pair which will maintain their stretch, colour and look for much longer. MiH do a fabulous range of styles - their stretchy bootcut style in indigo blue is especially flattering. For a more affordable version, try Wallis for their darker denim or Uniqlo where you can pick up a pair of jeans in a rainbow of colours!
Always look out for style tricks; these include a curved stitched seam around the legs which makes the thighs seem slimmer, a sharp crease down the front which makes legs look longer and slightly higher pockets at the back which can give you an instant 'bum lift'.
I highly recommend www.ilovejeans.com where you can find an array of figure-fixing denim. From jeans with built-in control panels to ones designed to stop gaping at the waist with their clever waist/hip cuts, it's easy to find a pair that will fit and flatter your shape.
