Woman applying blusher
There are few makeup bag essentials that guarantee an instant pick me up whatever the season and whatever time you went to bed the night before; blusher is one such saving grace and is well worth investing in. Whether you prefer cream or powder, peach or pink tones, we promise a healthy flush is just a brush stroke away with a little help from our pick of the best...

YSL Touche Blush
If there was a prize for the most beautiful blusher around I\'d be hard pushed to find a rival to the YSL Touche Blush, plus the colour is to die for. Application couldn\'t be easier, or any more fun, thanks to the attached puff and the colour is the perfect pink for creating a doll like complexion and blended really well. The matte colour lasted for hours and I could hardly wait to apply it again anyway, puffing my cheeks with 1940\'s abandon.

Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Colour
It may be a cliche, but it\'s true - you get what you pay for and if you invest in a Laura Mercier creamy blush you won\'t be disappointed. It gives lovely even coverage, blends into the skin well (without disappearing) and doesn\'t cake or look overly \'made-up\'. Great for a natural look - but you could always build up the colour by just adding more, it goes on so easy. Comes in a very practical handbag-sized compact, with a handy mirror. Top marks!

The NARS Multiple in Portofino
A great all rounder that can be used on cheeks, lips eyes, and even the body. I found application extremely easy, with just a few dabs on the cheeks giving my skin instant radiance, and a hint of a silky sheen. I usually struggle to get a good evening look with blusher, but found it easy to control colour build up as the cream to powder formula makes blending easy. After using the Multiple, I won\'t be returning to a powder blush.

Blushwear cream stick by Clinique
As a fan of cream blushes I was keen to try Clinique\'s offering and it really delivered. It has gorgeous sexy silver casing which contains a really creamy blusher. I chose the tan colour as I was trying to keep the hint of a tan that I\'d acquired on my summer hols and it really worked. Once again I had gorgeous dewey skin with a golden flush. Perfect for recreating that summer glow.

Stila cheek pan in Dance
A gorgeous bright blush which comes in a refillable pot, so good for the environment. It went on well, not looking too powdery and really lent me that rosy english glow that\'s so sought after. It\'s become a favourite of my beauty bag and because it\'s quite a small little pot it\'s perfect for fitting in my handbag.

Daniel Sandler Watercolour in Hawaii
I like my blushers pink and bright so this cheek stain (also great on the lips) from makeup artist Daniel Sandler was right up my street. The great thing about the cheek stain is that the colour stayed put and lasts all day, although applying the drops to your cheeks takes some practice to make sure the coverage is even. The variety of colours available in the range is impressive and I will definitely be exploring them all at some point.

Dior Pro Cheeks blush
A cream blush definitley works better for me but I have found that some can be too thick, almost sitting on top of the skin, but the Pro Cheeks pots from Dior are just brilliant! The tones are varied making it easy to find just the right one for you, the texture is smooth and easy to blend into the skin, covering lines as they go. A must try!

Guerlain\'s Blush 4 Eclats
What a discovery! I am not a blusher lover but I have been converted thanks to this beautiful palette. The chic velvet pouch gives way to the golden compact, complete with handy mirror. The blush gave me an even pretty colour and it smelt so lovely and feminine. I\'m hooked!

Blushcreme from MAC
The blusher is great and gives a gorgeous, dewy glow to my cheeks. I did find that it faded quite quickly when worn on its own rather than on top of powder or foundation, but when applied as part of my usual makeup routine I loved it.

Tender blushes from Estee Lauder
I think my favourite thing about Estee Lauder\'s Tender blushes is the rippled sunset colours that fade into each other, making it incredibly easy to blend the varying shades before you even apply the powder. Team that with the large mirror and flip-top packaging and we have a firm favourite for the makeup bag.
