How to choose the right moisturiser

Woman using moisturiser

It's crucial to pick the right texture for your skin type. Beauty expert Marie McKeever advises the following:

For dry skin:  Rich and nourishing creams.

For combination skin: a lightweight gel or lotion.

For oily skin: creams that mattify and tighten pores.

For normal skin: you can get away with most textures – choose what feels right for you.

Your changing requirements:

In your thirties

'Aim to improve radiance and maintain a healthy complexion,' says Marie. Try Clarins Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Corrective Cream ( £38 for 50ml, available nationwide).

In your forties

'Look out for a range that will lift, firm and smooth lines and fight signs of fatigue.' Try L'Oréal Revitalift Repair 10 (£14.99 for 50ml, Boots).

In your fifties

This is a fragile time for skin. Try Age Repair Ceramide Day Cream SPF15 (£8.50 for 50ml available at Marks & Spencer, 0845 609 0200).

In your sixties

For firmer skin and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, try Vichy Liftactiv Derm Source (£27 for 50ml, Boots)
