Best ever beauty tips: mineral makeup
Is mineral makeup right for you? Plus tips on how to apply it. By Yanar Alkayat
Finding a foundation to suit you can be tricky, especially if you have sensitive or problem skin, and sometimes liquid foundation is too cakey or cloggy. This is why mineral make-up has become so popular recently.
Unlike conventional bases, mineral foundations contain crushed mined minerals such as titanium dioxide, mica and iron oxide that won't irritate skin and won't block pores or cause pimples. Max Factor Natural Minerals Foundation also contains calcium silicate, another non-pore blocking ingredient that adds a healthy glow.
Tips for applying mineral foundation
Don't be scared by the little pots of powder. Caroline Barnes, Max Factor UK make-up artist, has these great tips for the perfect application:
1. Instead of dusting powder onto your face as you normally would, use a gentle stroking motion around the face
2. Start application on your forehead, then sweep down over your eyes and around T-zone. Gradually build up to achieve your perfect coverage level
3. Use the side of the brush to help place and connect the foundation with the skin to get into those tricky areas such as beside the nose and around the hairline
Mineral foundation won't mask your face and best of all, you won't get uneven or patchy colour as you get with other foundations. A single layer goes on evenly and will balance skin tone and cover imperfections without feeling heavy on the skin. You'll feel and see the difference immediately!
