Just who won what at the fab GH Food Awards.
The fourth annual Good Housekeeping Food Awards, held at a starry evening at One-O-One restaurant in Knightsbridge, was a night of glitz and foodie glamour. Hosted and presented by GH consultant and food guru Prue Leith, guest presenters included Peter Gordon, Jane Asher, Angela Hartnett, Raymond Blanc and Alex James, former bass guitarist of Blur. Other guests at the awards included Antonio Carluccio, Green & Black's founders Jo Fairley and Craig Sams, Valentina Harris, Sophie Conran and Michelin-starred chefs Galton Blackiston and Alan Murchison.
Before we announce the results, the GH team would like to say an enormous thank you to One-O-One for hosting the awards so splendidly and providing a mouthwatering array of canapés. A big thank you, too, to Champagne Taittinger for providing the bubbly, to Villa Maria for the wine and to Dartington for the beautiful crystal trophies.

Favourite local food
This year we introduced an exciting new category... First, we asked you to vote for your favourite local food, then we counted the votes and presented a shortlist of five to our expert panel. They tasted each one and voted for a winner, choosing it for its local heritage as well as for quality and flavour.

Dickinson & Morris Melton Mowbray pork pie
These pie-makers extraordinaire have been making their famous savoury treats at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton Mowbray since 1851. Traditional baking without a supporting tin or hoop gives the pies their classic bow-sided shape, and they're made with British pork and natural bone jelly stock for a succulent flavour (porkpie.co.uk; 01664 482068).

Rodda's Clotted Cream is rich, thick and topped with a delicious golden crust that's perfect with Cornish splits (rolls) and strawberry jam. The Rodda family, from Scorrier in Cornwall, has been making its PDO-accredited (Protected Designation of Origin) clotted cream since 1890. (roddas.co.uk; 01209 823300)

Cornish Yarg is a semi-hard cow's cheese from Lynher Dairies with a creamy, subtle taste. Wrapped in nettle leaves that give a fresh, lemony flavour, the cheese has been a major success - the result of a farm diversification project between two Cornish farming families (lynherdairies.co.uk; 01872 870789).
Loch Fyne Classic Smoked Salmon is dry cured with brown sugar and sea salt, then smoked for 12 hours over oak chips from whisky casks for a delicate flavour (lochfyne.com; 01499 600470).
Fat Rascals from the famous Betty's Tea Rooms in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, are fruity, crumbly teacakes which are delicious warmed through and served with plenty of butter (bettysbypost.com; 01423 814008).

Juliet Harbutt - the woman with a passion for cheese
After selling her share in the famous London wine and cheese shop Jeroboams in 1991, cheese champion and journalist Juliet Harbutt went on to set up the renowned Great British Cheese Festival and British Cheese Awards, which have helped to encourage a passion for cheese production in Britain. Partly thanks to Juliet, our nation is now a cheese force to be reckoned with!
In between times Juliet has written numerous books, including The Cook's Guide To Cheese and The World Encyclopaedia of Cheese. Last year, she fulfilled a long-held ambition to create her own cheese, in partnership with former bass guitarist of Blur, Alex James. They formed the Evenlode Partnership with the aim of developing a range of cheeses, some from Alex's farm and some from artisan producers, using local ingredients and traditional methods. Their first cheese on the market is called Little Wallop. Washed in cider brandy and wrapped in vine leaves, the tasty goat's cheese has already won a silver medal at the British Cheese Awards (thecheeseweb.com).

Paul Kelly - champion of chicken
Derek Kelly first started rearing his famous free-range Kelly Bronze turkeys in 1972, and his son Paul recently decided to use his breeding and rearing expertise to produce a chicken that tastes like the birds our grandparents used to eat. Produced just once a year in time for the Easter holidays, the chickens are free-range and hung for at least 10 days for a more flavoursome, tender meat. (kellybronze.co.uk; 01245 223581)
Peter and Elma McLaren of Ballencrieff Rare Pedigree Pigs
Peter and Elma McLaren farm old-fashioned breeds of pig the old-fashioned way. The sows run around outside all year and the piglets are born and reared free-range. The pigs grow at their own natural speed - no drugs, no growth promoters - and the result is flavour-packed bacon and sausages that taste fantastic (ballencrieffrppigs.co.uk; 01875 870551).
Best organic wine
‘Good Housekeeping set up this award in recognition of the increasing demand for organic products and the explosive growth in interest from producers,' says our resident wine expert Richard Ehrlich. ‘Ten years ago, assembling a shortlist would have been difficult: there weren't enough outstanding organic wines. But this year it proved a difficult task because there were so many to choose from.' Richard rose to the challenge, nevertheless, and created a shortlist of five, then guided the expert panel through a session of swirling, sniffing and sipping. Here are the results...

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
‘There's plenty more fish in the sea' is a saying the MSC wouldn't agree with. Tackling the problem of over-fishing and the near extinction of our favourite fish, such as cod and skate, hasn't been easy, but this global, non-profit organisation has made many changes of which it can be proud. It has already convinced Walmart, the world's largest retailer, to stock sustainable fish, and there's now a blue fish logo on packaging that's easy for supermarket shoppers to spot in store. Any fish product carrying the MSC logo is guaranteed to come from healthy stocks and will have been caught using non-damaging techniques - reassuring knowledge for consumers. The website, msc.org, offers a wealth of information, including lists of where you can buy sustainable fish, whether fresh or processed. Plans for the future include certifying schools, restaurants and hotels that feature sustainable fish on their menus.
