Ginger-glazed carrots
Ingredients
650g (1lb 4oz) tender young carrots
2tsp ground ginger
300ml (½pt) light lager
40g (1½oz) butter
2tsp soft brown sugar
2tsp ground ginger

Light lager and brown sugar give the traditional veg a tasty twist

Method
1. Bring carrots, ginger and lager (or vegetable stock, if you prefer) to the boil in a saucepan. Cook for 8-10 minutes. Drain.2. Add butter and sugar and cook on a high heat for 5 minutes until glazed. Season and serve.
