Sticky Beef with Rice

Ingredients

1tbsp sesame oil
2tbsp each soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce
2cm (¾in) piece of fresh root ginger, finely grated
2tbsp oyster sauce
Juice of ½ lime
2 x 175g (6oz) sirloin steaks
150g (5oz) basmati rice
200g (7oz) pak choi, roughly chopped

Method

1 Put the sesame oil, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, grated ginger, oyster sauce and lime juice into a shallow non-metallic dish and mix together. Add the steak and toss to coat. Set aside.

2 Meanwhile, put the rice in a pan with 300ml (½ pint) water and cook according to packet instructions.

3 When the rice is almost ready, heat a griddle or frying pan on a medium heat and cook the steaks for 1½-2min on each side for rare to medium. Remove the steaks to a warm plate to rest. Pour the rest of the marinade into the pan, boil for a couple of minutes, then add pak choi and cook until wilted. Slice the steaks and serve with rice and pak choi.
