Body Matter
GHI tried & tested,breakfast & brunch,healthy eating,Good Housekeeping
With the cold weather firmly settled in and the whiff of December in the air we decided to test hearty breakfast cereals here at the GHI. Some we had heard of, others are less well known, but they are all worth trying and here is what we thought....
We tried: Oat Crunch Cranberry, RRP £4.85 for 450g
Our verdict: A crunchy wheat free organic cereal with no added salt or processed sugar. This blended cereal of wholegrain toasted oat clusters and cranberries is delicious with either warm or cold milk or sprinkled over yogurt.
Available online at www.bodymatter.com and in various health shops.
Eat Natural

We tried: Both toasted mueslis, RRP £2.99 for 450g
Our verdict: With a motto of
"...and nothing dodgy" we thought these cereals certainly lived up to the name. There are 2 flavours to choose from: crunchy toastcrumbs hazelnuts, almonds oats and honey and the sweeter toasted oats cape gooseberries and pecans. Tasty but you will need to have a sweet tooth to eat a large bowlful.

We tried: No30 Queenstown Winter Porridge, RRP £2.99 for 500g
No31 Okarito Organic Porridge, RRP £2.99 for 445g
Our verdict: These very healthy looking porridge bases are full of naturally slow dried fruit, which give maximum flavour, sweetness and goodness. We particularly liked the No 30 with slow figs, dates and pecans. A perfect winter morning warmer.

Kelkin
GHI tried & tested,breakfast & brunch,healthy eating,Good Housekeeping
We tried: Kelkin Gluten Free Muesli, RRP £2.79 for 500g
Our verdict: A gluten free option made from rice flakes, sultanas, nuts and seeds. It is ideal for coeliacs who struggle to find good breakfast cereals or for those avoiding gluten. We found it a little bland and strangely see-through but for what it is, not bad at all.
