Ingredients

U.S. U.K. Conversion chart
  • Oil for greasing
  • 1  sachet pizza base mix
  • Flour for dusting
  • 0.5 jar(s) pizza topping
  • Choose three to four of these toppings:
  • 0.5 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 50 gram(s) button mushrooms sliced
  • 125 gram(s) cooked chicken breast sliced
  • 50 gram(s) frozen peas, thawed
  • 50 gram(s) canned sweetcorn, drained
  • 75 gram(s) tuna fish, drained
  • 75 gram(s) yellow and red cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 75 gram(s) Cheddar cheese, grated, or 125g (4oz) mozzarella, sliced

Method

  1. Makes one 20.5cm (8in) pizza
  2. Preheat the oven to 220°C (200°C fan) mark 7. Brush a baking sheet with a little oil, then place in the oven (see Cook's Tips). Place the pizza mix in a bowl and add water according to the packet instructions. Combine with a fork, then continue to mix with your hands until it forms a soft dough (add a little more flour if it's too sticky).
  3. Once the dough has come together in a ball, sprinkle flour over the worksurface and turn out the dough. Knead it for 5min until smooth, shiny and elastic (you could use a food mixer with a dough hook if you have one).
  4. Sprinkle more flour over the worksurface and rolling pin. Roll out the dough to make a 20.5cm (8in) circle then, using the rolling pin, transfer it to the baking sheet.
  5. Spread the pizza topping over the dough, then add your favourite toppings. Sprinkle the grated Cheddar cheese over or arrange the sliced mozzarella on top.
  6. Leave the pizza in a warm place for 10min to rise, then transfer to the hot baking sheet and cook for 15-20min until golden. Remove from the oven and serve.
  7. COOK'S TIP Heating a baking sheet in the oven will help crisp the base of the pizza.
