25 best beauty buys under £20: SHE poll

We polled hundreds of SHE readers to find out your favourite beauty products - from mascara to moisturiser - and all under £20. Here are your top 25

The change of seasons means a change of beauty products. Glow-giving self-tans and bronzers are just what you need to perk yourself up and feel sexier. If you've got a holiday to look forward to, then sun protection and de-fuzzing become essential. But what to buy? We thought we'd turn the tables and ask you for your favourites. The poll here on All About You really delivered, as you revealed your best performing, value-for-money buys. And the winners are...

 

MAKEUP

 

Best tinted moisturiser/lightweight foundation

No7 Dual Protection Tinted Moisturiser, £10.28, and Clinique Almost Makeup SP15, £18.11

Why? Both of these contain sunscreen and antioxidants to protect against UV and pollution, making them brilliant summer buys. They also give a sheer coverage with subtle colour. The Clinique product is oil-free and suits everyone, while the No7 tinted moisturiser works for all skin types, except oily. Use concealer if, and where, you need it.

 

Best lipstick

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick, £9.30; Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF15, £12; and Chanel Precision Lip Definer, £15.17.

Why? The No7 lipstick is applauded for its ability to last through the school run and a day at work (pretty much) and it also feels comfortable on your lips. And you love Angel, a great pinky neutral for every day.

The Clinique lip colour is glossy but not gloopy, moisturising and protective. It comes
in a wearable range of colours too, including the perfect-for-spring Air Kiss.

Chanel's lip pencil has a smooth texture and can be used to both define and fill in your lips. With a semi-matte finish, it comes in a range of colours, from nudes to brights.

 

Best waterproof mascara

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof, £4.99; Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Waterproof Mascara, £6.84; and Lancôme Hypnose Waterproof Mascara, £19.50.

Why? A 35-year-old icon, Maybelline's Great Lash is a staple of every make-up artist's bag and, it seems, nearly all of yours. It reliably defines and builds lashes without clumping.

Likewise, the Rimmel newcomer got a special mention for a wide-eyed look without clogging up lashes and for lasting all day.

Lancôme's mascara is pricier, but you think it's hard to beat for thick, full-on glam lashes that won't smear or run.

 

Best nail varnish

Dior Vernis, £13.70.

Why? For designer style at your fingertips, this polish wins hands down. The formula lasts best on your nails and the beige shade (Nude Chic, 219) is your fashionable pick of shades.

 

FOR FACE

 

Best daily facial moisturiser with built- in sun protection

Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Day Moisturiser, £16.63.

Why? You say Olay's moisturiser is the perfect all-rounder. This product works in several ways to brighten and smooth your skin, firm and hydrate it and minimise the appearance of lines. Plus, it has the all-important SPF15 to help protect your skin
from sun damage on a daily basis.

Best facial fake tan

Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream, £19.50.

Why? This whipped cream-textured self-tan gives an instant caramel tint, while the colour develops underneath. The two self-tanning sugar molecules, DHA and erythrulose, give believable colour and it nourishes well too.
