MAC makeup remover wipesMAC makeup remover wipes, £18, www.maccosmetics.co.uk

It is my experience that cleansing wipes can be pretty hit and miss when it comes to removing all types of makeup, plus my very dry skin tends to be left feeling even drier after using these types of products. These MAC wipes have changed all that I'm pleased to say.

For ease of use and convenience they would be hard to beat, the re-sealable dispenser means that you only ever pull out one wipe at a time and the rest of the pack doesn't dry out having been opened. These wipes are oversized too, meaning that more often than not one is all you need, and the vitamin E content left my skin feeling refreshed and moisturised as well as makeup free.

I love that you can buy these wipes in bulk, another beauty essential from MAC to enjoy using.

AAY Reader Review: Nude Cleansing Facial Wash, £17.62, www.nudeskincare.comNude Cleansing Facial Wash

As soon as I took off the lid of the Nude Cleansing Facial Wash and smelt the gorgeous fragrance I knew I would like this product. I wasn't disappointed!

The facial wash was in an easy-to-use pump action bottle which meant I didn't waste any. Only a small amount was needed to produce a rich and creamy lather, which easily removed make up and left my face feeling fresh and clean and smelling gorgeous.

I have never tried Nude products before but I loved this and, although it is a lot more than I would usually pay for a cleanser, I would definitely buy this again as you don't need a lot - a bottle will last a long time.

I particularly liked the fact that it is a natural product with no harsh chemicals and is kind to my skin.

I would definitely recommend this to my friends, in fact I have already!

Lancome makeup removerLancome B-Facil Instant Cleanser for eyes, £18.50, www.lancome.co.uk

This product really appealed to me as it is described as being good for contact lens wearers and I wear mine all day long, so a sensitive makeup remover is a must. The product's bi-phase formula is activated by shaking the bottle and blending the two different coloured liquids, I then used normal cotton wool pads for application.

As well as feeling fresh and gentle around the eyes with no stinging, makeup was easily removed - even waterproof mascara which I have always found tough to shift. You do however need quite a bit to get all of your makeup off and I found that sometimes an oily residue was left on the skin.

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel - £16.50, www.clarins.co.ukClarins Pure Melting Gel

I love this product and have been using it for some time now. I had a total 'eureka' moment when I discovered it, because this nifty little cleanser is actually three great products in one.

First it's a gel, so a really nice texture when rubbed onto a weary face at the end of the day. As you rub it in, the heat of your skin makes the gel turn into oil, so it's both soothing and hydrating and perfect for a mini facial massage. Finally, when removing with water, the oil turns into a foaming wash, so it's super cleansing - the perfect way to remove makeup and grime from the skin. And afterwards skin feels soft, supple and glowing.

It's perfect, simply couldn't be better!

Givenchy makeup removerAAY Reader review: Givenchy 2 Good to be True dual phase eye makeup remover, £17.12, 01932 233 824

I was keen to see how ‘the first in a line of professional makeup removers' would perform, and was promised high performance and soothing comfort. After shaking the bottle to merge the two layers of ingredients (‘dual-phase texture') I applied as instructed. My eye makeup was removed with ease although I was surprised by how much product was required. The eye area was left completely clean and not at all greasy, to the extent that I was able to re-apply makeup immediately.

This was an absolute pleasure to use, however I would not buy it again. I imagine that, given the quantity required per application, the bottle would not last very long and it would therefore become quite expensive. I would however recommend it to anyone willing to pay the price as it did perform exactly as promised. It is simply over my budget.

7/10 - Helen Boyd
